From Impact Hub Budapest member, Judit Balogh:
We have a European meeting in Brussels on 2nd of March about EVS in Social Enterprises/Economy. And we would like to invite some ‘social economy’ organisations to explore together what are the possibilities, advantages, concerns of having a European Volunteer in a social enterprise project.
The SALTO Inclusion resource centre works for the EU programme for young people called Eramsus+ Youth in Action. One of the project opportunities for young people from 17-30 years old is to do a European Voluntary Service in another country for a period from 2 weeks to 12 months. A sending organisation prepares the volunteer, a hosting organisation foresees interesting tasks for the volunteer, a coordination organisation applies for funding (covering hosting & sending costs and pocket money for the volunteer).
We would also like to see ‘young people with fewer opportunities’ (disadvantaged youth) take part in these projects. But many hosting projects are not adapted or do not provided the needed extra support for young people with special needs (e.g. disability, social issues, special needs, mental challenges, etc).
